Remember to Link Vehicles to Your Permit!
Please remember to link your correct vehicle information to your active permit. Vehicles that are not linked properly may receive citations. To verify your vehicle information, visit your parking portal, view your active permits, and confirm that your correct vehicle information appears.
What is LPR and how does it work?
License Plate Recognition (LPR) is a parking technology that uses special cameras mounted on patrol vehicles to scan license plates.
Here's what happens:
- Scan - As the patrol car drives through campus, cameras read license plates.
- Check - The plate number is sent to a secure database to see if it's linked to a valid permit.
- Verify - If the plate is registered and in the correct lot, you're good to go.
- Enforce - If there's no valid permit or the vehicle is parked in the wrong area, a citation may be issued.
LPR means no more physical hangtags - your license plate is your permit.
Important LPR Information
LPR Implementation
- License Plate Recognition (LPR) begins 2025 on the Pocatello campus only.
-
Other ISU campuses will be considered in the future.
Multiple Vehicles
- You may register up to 4 vehicles on one active permit.
-
Only 1 vehicle per permit can be parked on campus at a time.
-
If 2 vehicles tied to the same permit are parked on campus at the same time, the second vehicle will receive a citation.
Temporary License Plate
-
Register your temporary plate online and link it to your permit.
-
Once you receive your permanent plate, update your permit and remove the temporary plate.
Rental Vehicles
-
Register rental plates online and link them to your permit.
-
Once you return the rental, remove it from both your permit and your account profile.
Visitor Parking
-
Visitors and short-term parking require payment via MobilePay.
-
Look for MobilePay signage in eligible lots or check the campus map.
Official Vehicle Passes
-
If you have an Official Business Pass for the school year, it is linked to your Parking account.
-
LPR will automatically recognize the additional permit.
-
Check your vehicle information in the Parking Portal to ensure accuracy.
Courtesy & Media Passes
-
Passes used by multiple companies must be displayed in the vehicle so enforcement can confirm validity.
-
If a pass is assigned to a single individual, contact Parking to have your vehicle linked directly to the permit.

2. Open Permits – Click “Permits.”
3. View Your Permits – Select “View Your Permits” under the PERMITS section.
4. Check Status – Look for permits with an Active or Issued status.
5. Add a Vehicle – If your vehicle isn’t listed, click “Add Vehicles to Permit” → “Add a New Vehicle” and enter all required information.
6. Confirm Linking – Make sure at least one vehicle is linked to your permit.
7. Remove a Vehicle – To remove a vehicle, click “Delete.”
Important Notes
